Lake Cootharaba on November 3 – 4 is playing host to the Cat Challenge Regatta open to all catamaran classes. It promises to be a wonderful spectacle of colour, speed and fun! Just a 20 minute drive from Noosa to Boreen Point and a step back in time the lake is a perfect picnic spot for a day outing for holidaymakers and locals alike.
The jewel in the crown of this picturesque village is the historic Appollonian Hotel built in the 1870’s at the heyday of the Gympie Gold Rush. Sunday lunches are a special event at the bistro as the wood fired spit-roast is fired up and there are platters of salad, hot potatoes and damper. But bookings are essential on Sundays.
So mark your calendars for a very special weekend outing with the exhilaration of cat sailing and the relaxed atmosphere of a beautiful historic Aussie pub of yesteryear.
